MICHAEL BUSHNELL

Michael Bushnell is the former Publisher of the Northeast News, Kansas City;s community newspaper serving the Historic Northeast since 1932. His commitment to the neighborhood began in the 1990s, when he served two terms as President of the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood association and then,
in 1996, left a corporate communications career to lead the Northeast Chamber of Commerce. 

In 1998,he and his wife Christine acquired the Northeast News and rebuilt it as a community-focused publication; in 2021, he transitioned it from for-profit to non-profit, securing its future.

As a member of the Northeast Kansas City Historical Society, Michael has chronicled the people, buildings, parks, boulevards,
and civic institutions of the Historic Northeast for nearly three decades.

Cecilia began her journey at Whatsoever as a preschool teacher, where her dedication and ability to connect with young people quickly stood out. As her role evolved, so did her impact. Cecilia has been instrumental in developing, strengthening, and supporting youth programming at Whatsoever, creating meaningful experiences for our children and families. Her ability to build trusting relationships and respond to the needs of young people has made her a valued presence in the lives of the youth and families we serve.
