Letter From the Board

I’m honored to welcome you on behalf of all of us at Whatsoever Community Center. For more than a century, our mission has remained steadfast: to strengthen families, foster a sense of community, and create pathways to brighter futures.

This summer has been a particularly meaningful and challenging time for our organization. It is with great sadness that we share that our longtime Director, Charlie Gascich, passed away in June 2026. Charlie was deeply committed to Whatsoever Community Center and to the children, youth, and families we serve. His dedication, compassion, and leadership have left a lasting impact on our organization and our community.

In the months since his passing, much work has been done to carry forward Charlie’s vision and the important work he championed. Our staff, board, and community partners have come together to ensure that our programs continue to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive, young people can grow, and families can feel supported and empowered.

At the same time, we have been thoughtfully developing plans to strengthen our outreach and deepen our connections throughout the community. We look forward to building new partnerships, welcoming more families through our doors, and expanding awareness of the programs and resources available through Whatsoever.

To support this continued work, the Board of Directors has appointed Michael Bushnell as our Director of Development and Cecilia Santacruz as Senior Program Manager. We are grateful for their leadership during this period of transition and for the commitment of our staff and board as we move forward together.

As a nonprofit organization, our work is made possible through the generosity of those who believe in our mission. Your support as a donor, volunteer, advocate, or community partner helps us continue providing high-quality, accessible programs to the families who need them most. Every contribution helps us plant seeds of hope and opportunity right here in Jackson County.

Thank you for believing in Whatsoever Community Center and for standing with us during this important time of transition. We look forward to welcoming you to our center and to building a stronger future together.

Sincerely,

Larry Crowe, Board President
